Rev. Dr. Jon Mundy is an esteemed author, lecturer, and the publisher of Miracles Magazine. Alongside Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, he co-founded The New Seminary for Interfaith Ministers in New York City in 1981, aimed at training interfaith ministers. Rev. Dr. Mundy’s career began in 1961, serving as a minister for three rural Missouri churches. He was licensed by the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in 1961, ordained as a Deacon by the United Methodists in 1971, and as an Elder in 1981, culminating in his ordination as an Interfaith Minister in 1988. He has been an influential author, lecturer, and minister since 1985.
He holds a Ph.D. received in 2003 and has an extensive teaching background, having taught Philosophy, Religion, and Psychology from 1967-2009 at institutions including the Interboro Institute, The New School University, Mercy College (teaching both on campus and in correctional facilities such as Sing Sing and Bedford Hills Prison for Women), The State University of New York, New Paltz, and Marist College, Poughkeepsie.
His areas of specialization include the History of Mysticism, the Psychology of Religion, World Religions, the History of Philosophy, Oriental Philosophy, and A Course in Miracles. He was introduced to A Course in Miracles by Dr. Helen Schucman and Dr. William Thetford in 1973, who, along with Dr. Ken Wapnick, played pivotal roles in his spiritual and academic pursuits. Dr. Schucman served as his counselor and guide until her illness in 1980.
In 1989, he co-founded the Interfaith Fellowship with Rev. Dr. Diane Berke, offering services in Cami Hall across from Carnegie Hall in New York City.
