Rabbi Joseph Gelberman Awarded a Living Spirit” Posthumously

At the first meeting of the General Assembly of the CIC-USA, the late Rabbi Joseph Gelberman was proclaimed the first recipient of the Huston Smith Award for Interfaith Education Lifetime Achievement as a "Living Spirit." This honor recognizes his contributions to interfaith ministry education that have lived on beyond his lifetime. Rabbi Gelberman created the first interfaith seminary in 1981 and ordained the first Interfaith Ministers in our movement.
