All students expected to:
- Read and write a short commentary on each chapter of “The World’s Religions” by Huston Smith.
- Read and write a short commentary on each chapter of “How Can I Help?” by Ram Dass.
- Write a 1-2 page reflection on the NYC monthly class(Live or Youtube.com).
- Write one Funeral Service.
- Read and write a commentary on either of the following:
a. “On Death and Dying” by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
b. “Who Dies?” by Stephen Levin - Write one Wedding Ceremony.
- Read and write a commentary on either of the following:
a. “Hands and Hearts” by Suzanna Macombe
b. “Yes! I Will! I Do!” by Maureen Burwell Pollinger - Perform Monthly Field Work:
a. From Aug thru Apr, visit a place of worship and write a 1 to 2 page report on your experience.
b. From Oct thru Jan, interview 4 spiritual leaders and write a report. Decide on 5 good questions to ask of a spiritual leader, such as a pastor, a Rabbi, a Minister, a Chaplain, a Cantor, a Choir Director, a Nun, Youth Church director, a Swami, an Imam, etc. - Various assignments on rituals, ethics, and spiritual
- Read and write a short commentary on each chapter of “What is Mysticism?” by Jon Mundy.
- Present a sermon on whatever is of interest to them.
- Write a 25-page Term Paper on what interests the student, as discussed with their mentor.
- Present a final sermon to the class, on a topic of interest to them
Upon successful completion of the Interfaith Minister program, students are ordained as ministers and are eligible to register legally as clergy. Thus, graduates are eligible to add the honorific “Reverend” to any existing titles and honors they have achieved in their professions.
All corresponding students can join in the classes via U Streaming and can also view the class on YouTube. They will not, however, be available to be viewed for at least a week after the class, however you will be notified when you can have access.
