What is Shamanism?
Shamanism is a religious practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world.
Itzhak details what Shamanism is and what it is not, detailing some of the ways it relates to traditions the world over since ancient times.
After a little more preparatory discussion, Itzhak leads the class into an inner visit to meet their spirit guides and journey down into the space within themselves. After the journey, several of the students and faculty members share their inner experiences and Itzhak assists in offering interpretations of what each encounter actually means to each individual.
Please close your eyes, listen to Itzhak’s instructions, and participate in this session as it plays, and see where it takes you. You can lie down on the floor if you have a space, and get relaxed and comfortable. After the drumming ended and we all “came back” to the room, everyone shared their personal experiences and Itzhak offered some possible interpretations. Everyone’s experience was different, and all held personal meaning for those involved.

Izthak Beery on Shamanism – 2014
Itzhak Beery introduces the topic of Shamanism to this year’s (AFSI 2014) class, and a lively discussion ensues between Itzhak, the faculty, and the students, including some fascinating question and answers.
Itzhak Beery Shamanism: The Journey
A guided Shamanistic journey: shorter than last year’s due to our time constraints in the room, we did a single seated journey this time, but fee free to lie down on the floor as you listen and go inward on your own, and see how it may connect with your previous experience . . . Afterward, Itzhak led some discussion of our experiences, and the class had to end soon after as were out of time.
